📁 File Formats & Sizes
- Images: PNG, JPG/JPEG/JPE/JFIF, WebP, SVG, GIF, BMP, ICO, AVIF, QOI (TIFF output only)
- Documents: PDF (output only), DOCX (output only), RTF, HTML, Markdown, TXT, EPUB (EPUB input only)
- Audio: MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG/OGA, AIFF, ALAC, Opus, WebM/WEBA, AU
- Data: CSV, JSON, YAML, XML, TSV (can convert to PDF/DOCX for reports)
Note: TIFF, PDF, and DOCX are output-only. You can convert TO these formats, but not FROM them.
Visit the converter to see all available format combinations.⚠️ Important: TIFF, PDF, and DOCX input files are NOT supported.
Web browsers have limited capabilities for reading these complex formats. However:
- ✅ You CAN convert TO TIFF/PDF/DOCX - Convert any supported file to these formats
- ❌ You CANNOT convert FROM TIFF/PDF/DOCX - These files cannot be used as input
If you have a TIFF file to convert:
- First convert your TIFF to PNG, JPG, or WebP using desktop software:
- GIMP (free) - Open TIFF and export as PNG/JPG
- Photoshop - Save As PNG/JPG
- Then use this tool to convert to your desired format
If you have a PDF file to convert:
- Open your PDF in a PDF reader and export/save as another format:
- Adobe Acrobat - Export as Word, Image, or Text
- Preview (Mac) - Export as PNG, JPG
- Microsoft Edge (Windows) - Print to Image or save images
- Then use this tool to convert to your desired format
If you have a DOCX file to convert:
- Open your DOCX in a word processor and export/save as another format:
- Microsoft Word - Save As → TXT, HTML, or Markdown
- Google Docs - File → Download → Plain Text or HTML
- LibreOffice Writer - File → Export → Text or HTML
- Then use this tool to convert to your desired format
Why this limitation? TIFF, PDF, and DOCX are primarily output/document formats. Unlike simple formats like PNG or TXT which all browsers can read, these complex formats require special libraries that aren't fully available in web browsers. We can create these files (output), but cannot reliably read them (input).

⚙️ Technical Questions
- File size: Larger files take longer to process
- Format complexity: Some conversions are more complex than others
- Device performance: Your computer/phone's processing power
- Browser: Chrome and Edge typically perform fastest
- Chrome/Edge (recommended)
- Firefox
- Safari
- Opera
- Lossless: PNG, WAV, FLAC preserve 100% quality
- Lossy: JPEG, MP3, WebP compress files, reducing quality slightly
- Note: Converting from lossy to lossless doesn't improve quality - it just changes the format
🎯 Common Issues
- Check file size: Make sure it's under the limit for your file type
- Verify format: Ensure the file is in a supported format
- Refresh page: Sometimes a simple refresh helps
- Try another browser: Switch to Chrome or Edge if using another browser
- File corruption: The original file might be corrupted - try opening it in another app first
- Format limitations: Some formats don't support certain features (e.g., GIF has only 256 colors)
- Compression: Lossy formats like JPEG reduce quality for smaller file sizes
- Font/style issues: Document conversions may lose some formatting
- Encoding: Text conversions might have character encoding issues
💡 Tips & Best Practices
- For web: WebP (images), MP3 (audio)
- For quality: PNG (images), WAV/FLAC (audio)
- For compatibility: JPEG (images), MP3 (audio), PDF (documents)
- For file size: WebP/AVIF (images)
- For transparency: PNG, WebP
